Julie Ritter - Songs Of Love And Empire (1999)

Long Beach Arena, December 30,1989.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers were on tour promoting Mothers Milk the opening band was LA's very own Mary's Danish. This was the first time I saw Mary's Danish perform live. I was familiar with them via the Rodney on the Roq show. My girlfriend at the time would go on to become a Mary's Danish fanatic. That was high school. Mary's Danish broke up sometime during the mid '90's. While I was in college I was able to attend two concerts by former members Julie Ritter and Gretchen's band Battery Acid. 1999 came the release of Julie Ritter's solo debut, Songs Of Love And Empire. An excellent CD that doesn't stray from her old sound in Mary's Danish. Unfortunately, this looks like the only album that was released commercially
